Today, April 22nd 2012, Lagos will host the eighth Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), at the Expo Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites. Actors Lynn Whitfield, Morris Chestnut, Rockmond Dunbar and Maya Gilbert will appear for the ceremony, which honors films in 26 categories from 53 African countries.
As previously announced, nominated films of note include Better Mus' Come (Best Diaspora Feature), Mwansa The Great (Best Short Film), Kinyarwanda (Best Diaspora Feature), Toussaint Louverture (Best Diaspora Feature), An African Election (Best Documentary), and How to Steal 2 Million in various categories.
AMAA, whose theme this year is "Africa Rising," strives to "project the African film industry to Africa and the rest of the world."
