Red Carpet Report • The 2012 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner

Yesterday evening the annual White House Correspondents Association Dinner took place in Washington D.C., hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The dinner brought out a lot of big stars and a lot of fashion!


Eva Longoria went short for this occasion. The actress opted for a Marchesa Fall 2012 dress. The embroidered dress with high neck and puff skirt was paired with satin black Brian Atwood pumps (blehh) and an off-white printed clutch by Emilio Pucci. Eva wore her hair in a teased updo, smokey eyes finished her look. Claire Danes went for a satin white Vivienne Westwood gown, from the Fall 2012 collection. The halterneck gown with draped neckline was paired with a sparkly clutch. A boring hairstyle and bright red lips provided the finishing touches for this failed look. 

  

Ginnifer Goodwin walked the red carpet in a H&M Conscious Collection dress. The dress with sleeveless high-neck top, tiered skirt and black belt was paired with a gold clutch. Her cropped hairdo and red lips completed the look. Irina Shayk was her lovely self in a white Yves Saint Laurent halter jumpsuit with chain detailing. The Fall 2011 look was paired with a satin white tube clutch. The model wore her hair in a tight ponytail, glossy lips completed her look. I think the cut of the jumpsuit makes Irina's figure come out a little weird...

  

Rachel Zoe looked stylish in a sheer Valentino gown with pouf-sleeves. The gown was fully embroidered with sparkly glitters, the tiered skirt somewhat flared. The stylist accessorized with a shiny silver clutch. A dark red manicure, matching red lips and tumbling curls completed her look. Malin Akerman walked the red carpet in a cream satin strapless dress with V-neckline and high center-split. The dress with fitted bodice was paired with two-tone Jimmy Choo platform pumps and a black clutch. A chic updo, statement jewels and dark eye make-up provided the finishing touches for Malin's look. 

  

Kate Upton looked sexy and sophisticated in a cream satin wrap dress with white cuffs. The floor-length dress was paired with an Alexander McQueen clutch. The model wore her hair in a messy style, make-up which almost made Kate unrecognizable completed the look. Zooey Deschanel opted for a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with white flower embellishments. The light grey with white waistband seemed too long on Zooey, since a lot of fabric was gathered on the floor, which totally weighed down the look. A side-swept ponytail with her signature full bangs and a hot pink lip colour provided the finishing touches for Zooey's look. Too saggy.

  

Dakota Fanning looked cute in a long-sleeve Prada gown with a V-neck and keyhole accent. The fully star and flower embellished gown was very fresh and age-appropriate for Dakota. The young actress styled her gown with bow-detailed sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti and a shiny Prada box-clutch. Cartier bangles, a straight hairstyle and natural make-up finished the look. Tory Burch opted for a light blue one-shoulder gown with folded detailing all over. The gown was adorned in the waist with a tin satin belt. Tory styled her gown with statement jewelry and a loose hairstyle. The colour of this gown completely washes out Tory, plus there is too much fabric going on here. 

  

Kerry Washington also attended the dinner. The singer donned a simple peach long-sleeve gown with V-neck by Calvin Klein Collection. Kerry accessorized with Finn rings, statement earrings by Dean Harris and a snakeskin clutch by Roger Vivier. A clean hairstyle and smoky eyes wrapped up the look. Kris Jenner wore a shiny red one-shoulder draped gown. The gown, which was ill-fitted and wearing Kris instead of the other way around, was teamed with a sparkly gold clutch, diamond drop earrings and a stack of diamond bangles. A teased hairstyle completed the look. Please explain where the gold clutch came from?

  

Elizabeth Banks looked fabulous in a red strapless gown with peplum-detailing by Antonio Berardi, from the Fall 2012 collection. The gown was styled with beautiful statement jewels and a gold Lara Bohnic clutch. A chic updo and red lippie completed the look. Viola Davis opted for a shiny red Amsale gown with folded bodice. The one-shoulder gown was teamed with gold De Beers jewels. A delicate wavy hairstyle and dark eye make-up finished the look. 

  

Alicia Keys totally missed the mark in a tangerine DVF dress. The dress with cut-out detailing at the neckline and long sleeves was mis-matched with a black-and-tan belt and black tights. The singer accessorized with Valentino heels and an oversized envelope clutch. A curly hairdo finished the look. First Lady Michelle Obama looked beautiful in a Naeem Khan Fall/Winter 2011 collection gown. The colours of the printed dress looked gorgeous with Michelle's skin. Gold hoop earrings with coral stones and delicate waves completed the lovely look. 

  

Kate Hudson stunned on the red carpet in a sequined inky purple Jenny Packham gown. The gown with wide neckline and long sleeves featured black embellished cuffs. The actress styled her gown with black patent platform pumps by Brian Atwood and a black clutch. Black dangling earrings and a tall ballerina bun completed her gor-geous look. Rashida Jones opted for a teal-and-black printed gown from the Tory Burch Fall 2012 collection. The gown with sheer yoke and peplum-detail was paired with a simple cocktail ring. A messy updo and red lips with matching manicure provided the finishing touches for this good look. 

  

Kim Kardashian looked chic in a velvet green gown with embellished shoulders and an open back by Johanna Johnson. The sleeveless gown was adorned in the waist with a shiny belt. Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a breaded topbun completed Kim's look. Although this gown is not very well suited for Kim's figure, it is a very sophisticated look and colour on her. Rosario Dawson walked the red carpet in a green structured gown with statement shoulders by Armani Prive. The gown with folded detailing along the revealing neckline was styled with an envelope clutch and simple jewels. Pretty make-up and large tumbling curls provided the finishing touches for the look. For me, this look is ruined by Rosario's twins, which should have been kept in the jar if you know what I mean.

  

Ivanka Trump looked stunning in a fully beaded grey Naeem Khan Fall 2011 gown. The gown with deep neckline and short sleeves was styled with Ivanka Trump peep-toes and diamond jewels, including hooped earrings and a diamond bracelet. The business woman also carried a shiny clutch. A chic loose updo and dark eye make-up provided the finishing touches for this look. Charlize Theron was also spotted at the White House Dinner. The actress looked beautiful in a black lace gown with nude lining by Emilio Pucci, from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Although the gown covers all on the front, it did have an open back! Charlize teamed her gown with Manolo Blahnik pumps and a black croco-clutch by Judith Leiber. A pulled-back hairstyle and flawless natural make-up finished the look. 

  

Reese Witherspoon looked radiant in a black Monique Lhuillier gown with asymmetrical neckline from the Spring 2012 collection. The mommy-to-be did an amazing job on the accessory-department, she styled her look with blue Irene Neuwirth jewelry, including a large cocktail ring and drop earrings (beautiful with her eyes!). An old-Hollywood inspired hairdo completed this gorgeous look. Lindsay Lohan was a hot mess on the red carpet. The actress wore an ill-fitted black halterneck dress with plunging neckline. She paired her dress with strappy platform sandals. A messy straight hairstyle and a red lip shade finished this look. No no.  

  

Elle MacPherson opted for a black strapless silk-organza gown from the Romona Keveza Fall 2012 collection. The gown featured a draped bodice with peplum-effect and a thigh-high front-slit. Elle styled her gown with crystal-embellished heels by Christian Louboutin and a sparkly black clutch. Crystal statement jewels and a full blonde mane completed the look. Sofia Vergara went short like Eva Longoria. The Modern Family-actress wore a strapless lace David Meister dress, which was adorned in the waist with an embellished belt. Sofia styled her look with an embellished clutch, knotted peep-toes by Louboutin and an encrusted bangle. Dangling earrings and a wavy hairstyle finished the look. Too casual or OK?

  

Anna Paquin showed off her growing baby bump in a black halterneck gown with open back by Herve L. Leroux. The gown, with wrapped detailing on the bodice was teamed with YSL platform sandals, a black Judith Leiber clutch and sparkly statement jewelry. Dark eye make-up and a chic updo wrapped up this look. Julie Bowen was sophisticated short in a sleeveless Monique Lhuillier dress. The dress with V-neckline had embellished pleats in the front. Black peep-toes by Sergio Rossi and a gold tube clutch completed Julie's look.

Red Carpet Report • The 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

After the 84th Annual Academy Awards, the stars hit multiple after parties. One of them was the annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party, held at the Sunset Tower in LA. Lets check out the gowns!


Maria Sharapova was among the stars. The tennis player opted for a micro mini Alexander McQueen dress with loads of frou frou from the Spring 2012 collection. The mini dress with frilled hemline and multiple shoulder straps just doesn't seem right on Maria's muscular body. Maria paired her dress with Alexander McQueen platforms, a sparkly Alexander McQueen clutch and fine jewels. To me, this just looks like Maria has wrapped herself in toilet paper. Olivia Wilde, on the other hand, did look stunning. The actress walked the red carpet in a black silk Gucci Pre-Fall 2012 gown with an embroidered velvet belt in the waist. The actress teamed her gown with a gold choker (mwha) and a beige clutch. Olivia wore her hair in a tight ballerina bun, she had kohl-rimmed eyes which made her bright blue eyes pop.

    

Kate Bosworth donned a tulle Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 dress. The long-sleeve dress with lacey cutwork was embellished with sparkly beads and crystals and adorned with a black leather belt. Kate teamed her dress with Christain Louboutin pointed-toe pumps and a Dior clutch. She wore her hair in a sleek bun. Emma Stone opted for a Chanel Fall 2012 Haute Couture gown with flared waist. The gown featured a structured bodice and partly sheer skirt. Emma wore her hair in the same parted updo as on the Oscar red carpet. 

  

Zoe Saldana wore a  satin and sheer Mario Schwab Fall 2012 gown. The gown had Swarovski details and short sleeves. The actress toned her accessories down, since the dress had sparkly elements. Zoe carried a croco-clutch and wore a deep red lip shade. Felicity Jones wore a leather sleeveless gown by Johanna Johnson. The gown consisted of a fitted bodice and a pin tucked skirt. Felicity carried a black clutch and let her hair fall over her shoulders.

  

Elizabeth Olsen looked donned a somber black Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2012 gown. The gown featured a silk short-sleeve top and a leather and chiffon skirt. If you ask me, this dress is quite unflattering for Elizabeth's slim figure. A leather bag by The Row finished her look. Mia Wasikowska also attended the Vanity Fair party. The actress wore a floor-length Antonio Berardi Fall 2012 gown with asymmetrical floral panel and pleated peplum in the waist. Mia's hair was in a voluminous do, she didn't accessorize, just a simple chic look. 

  

Selena Gomez was super chic in a silver and grey embroidered Dolce & Gabbana column gown. The skirt of the gown featured tulle layers which added volume to the skirt. Selena accessorized with a sparkly grey clutch and dangling diamond earrings. Her hair was in a faux-bob. Paula Patton looked pretty in a Naeem Khan look. The dress featured a fully embellished sleeveless bodice and a black tassel skirt. Paula teamed her dress with Jimmy Choo suede pumps, a matching Marchesa clutch and Chopard jewels. Playful curls completed Paula's look. 

  

Amy Adams was also spotted at the after party. The actress looked stunning in a sleek, silver sequined Vivienne Westwood dress. The draped corset dress was teamed with towering matching silver peep-toe platforms by Giuseppe Zanotti. Amy's hair was in a wavy updo. Also Victoria Beckham and hubby David took the red carpet at the party yesterday. Victoria wore a light grey strapless Fall 2012 gown from her own collection. The designer teamed her dress with a wrapped belt. The dress fit Posh like a second skin. A simple updo and a nude lip shade finished Victoria's look. 

  

Katie Holmes was a stunner in a sapphire-blue chiffon gown with embroidered bodice by Elie Saab, from the Fall 2011 Couture collection. The strapless bodice with velvet waistband cascaded into a full layered skirt. Katie styled her gown with a shiny Lanvin clutch and a chic ponytail with whispy bangs. Lily Collins was beautiful in a nude Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2012 gown with electric blue embroideries. The three-quarter sleeve gown featured a full tulle skirt. The nude colour was very pretty with Lily's snowy skin. Her hair was in a messy updo, she also wore vibrant red lippie. 

  

January Jones donned a Fall 2012 gown with bronze velvet skirt, a silk organza top and a leather waistband. Her trumpet-skirt gown was paired with a bronze clutch. She wore her short hair in soft waves. A bold red lip shade completed her look. Elizabeth Banks was another attendee of the Vanity Fair Oscar party. She wore a gorgeous Chadwick Bell Fall 2012 gown. The green-and-blue polka dot gown featured a feathered full skirt and velvet green waistband. The actress teamed her gown with Bulgari jewelry and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Love it!

  

Kate Beckinsale came out in a long-sleeve Atelier Versace Fall 2011 Couture gown. The gown featured cut-outs at the waist and a wide V-neck with sheer black trimming. Kate styled her gown with a complementing clutch, her hair was in a swept-back do. Olga Kurylenko looked pretty in a floral appliqué gown by Georges Hobeika, from his Spring 2012 Couture collection. The light green beaded gown with lace belt and center-split beautifully contrasted with Olga's hair. Pomellato jewels completed her look. 

  

Shailene Woodley didn't don white for the Vanity Fair carpet. The actress opted for a floral embroidered Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 look. The long-sleeve dress with open back was teamed with matching DVF pumps. Shailene's hair was in a sleek bun. Rashida Jones wore a vibrant yellow Elie Saab Spring 2012 gown with plunging neckline and embroidered cap-sleeves. The belted gown was paired with a stack of bangles and a cocktail ring. Rashida's ombre hair was down in a straight style. A pink lip shade completed her look. 

  

Serena Williams & Venus Williams both attended the party and both wore gowns by Christiane King. The two sisters were a happy colour-blocking duo. Serena wore a mustard mermaid gown with open back. Her hair was in a braided do, she completed her look with emerald and gold jewelry. Venus opted for a bright two-toned one-shoulder gown with thigh-high split. She accessorized with a blush Atelier Swarovski 2012 clutch and wore bejeweled strappy sandals. I'd go for Venus, you?

  

Cameron Diaz traded her Gucci gown for a bright orange Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 gown. The vibrant gown featured grey details, like the shoulder straps and exposed zipper-detail along the back. The actress styled her gown with jewelry by David Webb. Julie Bowen also wore orange. Her tangerine Halston Spring 2012 halterneck gown had pleated and draped accents all over. Julie teamed her gown with matching suede peep-toe platform and a shiny gold clutch. Her hair was in a messy updo. Julie completed her look with H.Stern jewels, which included diamond drop earrings.

Rosario paired her gown with deep plum Ferragamo peep-toes and a sparkly Ferragamo clutch, her hair was in a polished updo. 

  

Claire Danes made a surprising red carpet choice. The Homeland-actress wore a bright pink Valentino Pre-Fall 2012 gown. The chiffon gown featured a sheer overlay and a full ruffled skirt. Claire wore her hair in a simple updo, she didn't carry a clutch. Salma Hayek wore red, a popular colour for tonight. Her mousseline YSL Edition Soir 2012 gown with accented shoulder straps was banded in the waist, showing off Salma's thin figure. The actress teamed her gown with sandals by YSL and a gold embroidered clutch. 

  

Ooh, one of my fashion faves, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked stunning on the red carpet! The supermodel looked bea-ti-ful in a red cap-sleeve gown with a cut-out back from Antionio Berardi's Spring 2012 collection. Rosie teamed her gown with a shiny clutch by Jimmy Choo. Her hair was in a center-parted ponytail. JewelMint jewelry finished her look. Love! Diane Kruger also wore a red gown. She went for a simple Calvin Klein Collection gown with plunging neckline and exposed bra-accent. The German actress teamed her gown with a crystal clutch by Judith Leiber and a diamond bracelet. Her hair was in a tight ponytail. 

  

Abbie Cornish wore a red jersey Tommy Hilfiger gown with a sleek train. The actress paired her sleeveless silk gown with a sparkly clutch by Salvatore Ferragamo and a crystal Neil Lane cuff. Abbie wore her soft curls swept over her shoulder, complementary lippie and mani completed her look. Jennifer Lopez walked the red carpet in yet another Zuhair Murad gown, this time a sparkling Fall 2011 Couture gown. The gown with structured shoulders and plunging neckline was fully sequined in colours that ranged from deep plum to dark red. JLo wore her hair in the same topbun as earlier that night, she carried a Swarovski clutch and completed her look with H.Stern jewels. I think this look is better than her real Oscar gown!
