Nudes are here and aren't going anywhere any time soon! The shades that make your tan look even more tanned and look refreshingly goody-goody but still very stylish. If you don't want your hands to look like mannequin hands, make sure the polish you buy is a high-gloss one!

Pastels are back. Oh no, wait. Actually, pastels have never been gone! The sweet and chic colours can be worn in a glam way. This colour family fits everyone and is soft and feminine, they also look very classy. For a more edgy manicure you can always finsish off the look with a shatterish or glitterish topcoat.

Metallics are a fun way to spice up spring and summer. The gun metal look is edgy in a fashionable way. You can wear metallics from dark to bright and from glitz to glam. Do notice that when you have a darker skin tone you can better wear gold, bronze and champange shades and when you have a lighter skin go for the silvers.
NARS Desperado • Chanel Black Pearl
The baby blues are here! The Tiffany inspired colours look super soft and make your tan look awesome. Bright blue is a way to add some fun to any look. There are many blue shades to wear but this is my absolute favourite! When feeling like reaching out of your comfort zone, this is a good one to start with ;)

Peachy Pink highlights the spring's nail polish trends. It's subtle enough to wear to any occasion; from work to a night out in the town. Peachy pink is fashionably unique and looks good with a tan but also on a light skin. Peach gives an easy breezy look and a natural glow.

Lavender is also very popular this fashion season. The trend ranges from dusty purples and saturated lavenders to shiny heliotropes. The trend looks great with most skin tones. Lavender is not my favourite colour but I have to say, it looks chic and trendy when wearing dusty and saturated lavender shades on your nails. Lavender shades are definitely attention grabbers!

Grey is the new black this summer. A grey shade goes with everything and looks a little softer than black but still edgy. You can use a dark wintry shade of grey or a lighter springy grey a in matte or metallic glow.

YSL Stormy Grey • Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle
Sorbet / Frozen Lemonade Finish has become OPI's specialty this year when the brand brought out The Texas Collection which includes six 'sorbet-finish' shades. The semi-transparent colours create an effect like a slush-puppy in cheerful colours ranging from hot pink to orange and purple.

Edgy top coats are the newest trend in 2011. Since OPI launched the Shatter Topcoats you can create the craziest patterns on your nails! But pearly topcoats and glittery topcoats are also very popular. For the real shatter-fans (like me): China Glaze is launching a crackle-line which includes six crackle-lacquers: white, grey, black, light blue, fuchsia pink and purple.

Which colour or trend do you like most? The baby blue and bold & brights are definitely my favourites but I also love the metallics!
