Nail News • Essie Mirror Metallics Collection

Essie has a new collection: the Mirror Metallics collection. The nail polish brand seems to have bottled some liquid metallics, it looks gorgeous! The collection consists five foils laquers, all with a unique glow to them.

The colours are (L-R): Good As Gold (gold metallic), Nothing Else Metals (lavender metallic), Penny Talk (copper metallic), Blue Rhapsody (blue metallic) and No Place Like Chrome (silver metallic).

After reading some reviews,  it appears that these foils do not leave strokes and even look reflective instead of flat. This means, that these foils are better than the most. As far as I can judge from pictures, the foils cover your nails within one thick layer, or smarter, two thin layers. Just like all Essie polishes, these metallics are quick dry.

The collection is available worldwide from this month, so I really hope to see it drop in the Netherlands as well. Otherwise, I'm going to Bruxelles next weekend and to NYC (JEEEEJ!!!) in a few weeks, so I will get my hands on them one way or another! If you can't find the collection in stores, check out Target.com or any other legal nail polish selling site. $8 a bottle!

For now, my is No Place Like Chrome, it looks exactly like Chanel's limited Silver from 2007, so it's perfect for some Chanel Fall 2012 Couture nails!

"If you want to pick up some colour at the beach... I say go braziliant."
Essie's summer collection is inspired by Brazil: a sexy, alive and relaxed. The collection features six laquers in warm and bold colours.

Get glam and cover your nails in fancy rainbow colours. With the summer almost here this colours are perfect for a dazzling manicure!

From the left to the right: Absolutely Shore (a seafoam green), Meet Me at Sunset (a vibrant deep orange), Smooth Sailing (breezy lavender blue with a reflection of pearl), Super Bossa Nova (a bright fuchsia), Too Too Hot (sizzling red coral) and Braziliant (hot orange with a touch of shimmer).

Trend • Nail Polish Summer 2011

This fashion season, water, earth and exotic destinations are a big inspiration source for all designers. With those inspiration sources come the baby blues, peachy pinks and much more! Check it out...

Nudes are here and aren't going anywhere any time soon! The shades that make your tan look even more tanned and look refreshingly goody-goody but still very stylish. If you don't want your hands to look like mannequin hands, make sure the polish you buy is a high-gloss one!

Essie Iced Chai Latte • OPI Bubble Bath

Rescue Beauty Lounge Lulu • Butter London Nude

Pastels are back. Oh no, wait. Actually, pastels have never been gone! The sweet and chic colours can be worn in a glam way. This colour family fits everyone and is soft and feminine, they also look very classy. For a more edgy manicure you can always finsish off the look with a shatterish or glitterish topcoat.

Essie Nice is Nice • Konad Pastel Yellow

Metallics are a fun way to spice up spring and summer. The gun metal look is edgy in a fashionable way. You can wear metallics from dark to bright and from glitz to glam. Do notice that when you have a darker skin tone you can better wear gold, bronze and champange shades and when you have a lighter skin go for the silvers.

NARS Desperado • Chanel Black Pearl

OPI Lucer-tainly Look Marvelous • Dior Gold Nuggets

The baby blues are here! The Tiffany inspired colours look super soft and make your tan look awesome. Bright blue is a way to add some fun to any look. There are many blue shades to wear but this is my absolute favourite! When feeling like reaching out of your comfort zone, this is a good one to start with ;)

Chanel Riva • Essie Barbados Blue

OPI What's With The Cattitude • China Glaze For Audrey

Peachy Pink highlights the spring's nail polish trends. It's subtle enough to wear to any occasion; from work to a night out in the town. Peachy pink is fashionably unique and looks good with a tan but also on a light skin. Peach gives an easy breezy look and a natural glow.

Revlon Peach Petals • Priti September Charm

Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure Peachy Pink • Dior Pink Boa

Bolds & Brights are here to warm up for summer after the grey, black and other dark metallics in winter. Most bold nail polishes are very flashy but you can also go for a less bright colour and start with a somewhat darker shade.

OPI Don't Mess With OPI • Deborah Lippmann Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Chanel Mimosa • OPI DS Magic

Milky Whites to go with the all-white flow!

Lavender is also very popular this fashion season. The trend ranges from dusty purples and saturated lavenders to shiny heliotropes. The trend looks great with most skin tones. Lavender is not my favourite colour but I have to say, it looks chic and trendy when wearing dusty and saturated lavender shades on your nails. Lavender shades are definitely attention grabbers!

Essie Lilacism • China Glaze Agent Lavender

MAC Little Girl Type • Nail It! Lavender

Grey is the new black this summer. A grey shade goes with everything and looks a little softer than black but still edgy. You can use a dark wintry shade of grey or a lighter springy grey a in matte or metallic glow.

Bloom Agyness • Butter London Pearly Queen

YSL Stormy Grey • Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle

Sorbet / Frozen Lemonade Finish has become OPI's specialty this year when the brand brought out The Texas Collection which includes six 'sorbet-finish' shades. The semi-transparent colours create an effect like a slush-puppy in cheerful colours ranging from hot pink to orange and purple.

OPI Guy Meets Galveston • OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?

OPI Big Hair Big Nails OPI Do You Think I'm Te-xy?

Edgy top coats are the newest trend in 2011. Since OPI launched the Shatter Topcoats you can create the craziest patterns on your nails! But pearly topcoats and glittery topcoats are also very popular. For the real shatter-fans (like me): China Glaze is launching a crackle-line which includes six crackle-lacquers: white, grey, black, light blue, fuchsia pink and purple.

OPI Black Shatter • OPI Silver Shatter

China Glaze Crackle Collection

Which colour or trend do you like most? The baby blue and bold & brights are definitely my favourites but I also love the metallics!
