Review • OPI Just Spotted The Lizard

It has been a long time ago since I posted a manicure but sometimes I'm just too busy to take pictures. Still, here is a new review! This week I'm wearing Just Spotted The Lizard from the OPI Spider-Man collection! I bought it a few weeks ago and also wore it to prom, perfectly complementing my outfit, the same outfit that Olivia Palermo wore in NYC!

This translucent yellow, green and gold lacquer is one of the six shades in the Spider-Man collection, it has the same effect as Not Like The Movies and Go On Green!: it changes colour in different lighting.

I love this rich hue and how it adapts to each outfit I wear. Thereby, it is super easy to apply! It dries within minutes, especially when you use Quick Dry drops! From my previous experience I know that this polish doesn't chip quickly, but to not take chances, I use Chip Skip! This way, it easily stays on for a week.

What do you think of this shade?

OPI has a new Holiday collection coming up! During this year's holidays we can cover our fingertips in super attractive James Bond shades! To celebrate James Bond's 50 anniversary, OPI has introduced 12 seducing shades.

The colours are (L-R): The Spy Who Loved Me (rich scarlet red), Casino Royale (plum purple), You Only Live Twice (shiny red foil), Die Another Day (dark pumpkin), Skyfall (smoochy red), Golden Eye (super rich metallic gold), The World Is Not Enough (silver foil with lavender twist), Moonraker (bullet grey), On Her Majesty's Secret Service (sparkly silver), The Living Daylights (dark confetti rainbow), Live And Let Die (graphite), Tomorrow Never Dies (inky blueish purple).

I love Golden EyeThe Living Daylights and The Spy Who Loved Me! I'm so excited for this collection! Are you?

Can't wait for October!

Nail News • Essie Mirror Metallics Collection

Essie has a new collection: the Mirror Metallics collection. The nail polish brand seems to have bottled some liquid metallics, it looks gorgeous! The collection consists five foils laquers, all with a unique glow to them.

The colours are (L-R): Good As Gold (gold metallic), Nothing Else Metals (lavender metallic), Penny Talk (copper metallic), Blue Rhapsody (blue metallic) and No Place Like Chrome (silver metallic).

After reading some reviews,  it appears that these foils do not leave strokes and even look reflective instead of flat. This means, that these foils are better than the most. As far as I can judge from pictures, the foils cover your nails within one thick layer, or smarter, two thin layers. Just like all Essie polishes, these metallics are quick dry.

The collection is available worldwide from this month, so I really hope to see it drop in the Netherlands as well. Otherwise, I'm going to Bruxelles next weekend and to NYC (JEEEEJ!!!) in a few weeks, so I will get my hands on them one way or another! If you can't find the collection in stores, check out Target.com or any other legal nail polish selling site. $8 a bottle!

For now, my is No Place Like Chrome, it looks exactly like Chanel's limited Silver from 2007, so it's perfect for some Chanel Fall 2012 Couture nails!

Nail News • Chanel Fall 2012 Couture Nail Art

Chanel Fall 2012 Couture  Chanel Fall 2012 Couture

Last week, Chanel showcased its newest collection for the 2012 Paris Fashion Week, which is all about Couture. The collection was magical, with a new vintage theme, as a hommage to Coco Chanel. Although the collection mainly consisted of suits, there were a few outstanding other looks in the collection. The vintage tweed was replaced with hand-made embroidery on tulle: thousands of hours of work. I really like this collection, but I'm always all about the nails! What I spotted when I took a closer look at the collection was the nail art. This is the first time that Chanel has introduced an own kind of nail art!

En backstage du défilé Chanel haute couture  En backstage du défilé Chanel haute couture

For this Chanel style you first apply one layer of your wished colour, for the Chanel show Le Vernis Silver was used, which was sold as a limited edition in 2007 and isn't available anymore. As a second colour, May from the Spring 2012 collection was applied. When applying this coat you make sure not to cover your whole nail, leaving framings of the first coat. Now you have lined nails!

I really like this idea! To me it seems like a new twist to the French manicure!

Nail News • Chanel Fall 2012 Collection

Jeeeej! The Chanel Fall 2012 nail polish collection is almost here! I love how the brand always keeps things classic but still new! Chanel's shows have all been about luxury and fantasy lately, based on the glowing and rich-hued precious stones like diamonds and emeralds.

The colours are (from L-R): Suspicious (a bright fuchsia red), Frenzy (milky beige) and Vertigo (almost black with shimmery red).

I always love bright colours so Suspicious is my favourite here! I also love the magical lavender twist in Frenzy. What is your favourite?

The collection will drop worldwide on August 27 2012 so have fun! I can't wait!

Nail News • OPI's Outrageous Neons Mini Collection

Also joining in on the neon trend, OPI has now announced the OPI Outrageous Neons Mini Collection for summer. The package includes for eye-popping shades, a white base coat and a top coat to make your matte neons shine.

opi-neon-horizontal.jpg

The colours (L-R): White Base (the base coat to make your neons pop), Ridiculously Yellow, Formidably OrangeRiotously Pink, Seriously Purple & a Top Coat (for the perfect shine and protection).

Do you think this is better than the China Glaze Neon Collection? I'm afraid I actually like the China Glazes better, since these colours give me a vintage feeling, if I can judge from the pack-pic. In OPI's tutorial here, you can see the colours in real life and they're way better there!

The neons will come out in July in a limited edition, hopefully also in the Netherlands!

Going along with the neon trend, China Glaze has a new 2012 Summer collection, the Summer Neons. The collection features 12 sizzling hot shades, perfect for daytime and night life. Two of the polishes are jellies and all others are shimmering neons. To make them shine, you will really need a top coat since the neons are quite matte, but we will live right?

Review • OPI Silver Shattered Stranger Tides

Hi everyone! The past few weeks I've worn shades that I've already shown you but this week I tried something new. At the moment, I'm wearing OPI Stranger Tides, with Silver Shatter on top of it. After I applied the shatter on the pale green colour and shatter, my nails made me think of a snake, although this isn't very clear in the pictures.

I first applied ChipSkip, then a matte base coat. Afterwards, I used two layers of Stranger Tides and one thin layer of Silver Shatter. If you use thick layers of shatter, the colour you used underneath won't be clearly visible anymore. To make my nails shine, I used a sparkly top coat. I love the colour for this weather, rainy with sunny periods; it fits both! My experience with Stranger Tides and most of the OPI lacquers is that it stays on perfectly for one week (especially with ChipSkip) and Shatter mostly makes your manicure last even longer!

What do you think of this combination?

Nail News • OPI Fall 2012 Germany Collection

Yes girls, pull out your lederhosen! Haha! After Holland, now it's Germany's turn to be featured in one of OPI's collections. For Fall 2012, OPI takes us back to Europe with the Germany Collection! The 12-piece collection has a very wide colour-range, from dusty creams to vibrant foils. Every single colour is unique in this collection, although it has some 'new' colours that could easily be compared to polishes from previous collections.

Above (L-R): My Very First Knockwurst (nude pink), Don't Pretzel My Buttons (nude), Berlin There Done That (beige), Don't Talk Bach To Me (dusty yellow), Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! (a dim grey), Schnapps Out of It (coral), Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs (shimmery purple), Every Month is Oktoberfest (shimmery chocolate brown), Unfor-greta-bly Blue (shimmery bright blue), Deutche You Want Me Baby (orange-red pumpkin), Danke-Shiny Red (a chic red) & German-icure (shimmery maroon).

Because of all the different colours, everyone will like at least one hue and probably even more than one in this collection. Personally, this isn't my favourite collection by OPI. I liked the Touring America, Holland and Texas collections better, this one looks like OPI has just pulled some colours together to create something. Although I'm not in love with the colour combinations, when you look at the hues separately, there are some beautiful lacquers in this collection.

What do you think of the collection? Judging by just seeing this pic, my faves are (especially for fall) Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!Schnapps Out of It and Every Month is Oktoberfest

I have to complement OPI for their hilarious polish names once again!

Review • OPI Fresh Frog Of Bel Air

Hi guys! It has been such a lovely week for me, due to the suuuuunshiiiine! Yes, it's unbelievable but the sun was there the whole week here in the Netherlands! That being said, I wanted to wear a summery and fun lacquer this week and that's why I opted for OPI's Fresh Frog Of Bel Air (Muppet Collection), with Cuckoo For This Color underneath. This combination made both hues look very special.

Since Fresh Frog Of Bel Air is like a top coat, translucent, I always try to find fun new combinations for colours to wear underneath the shimmery glitter. I've enjoyed staring at my manicure the whole week, and in the sun the glitters were even more beautiful!

For me, this combination is a success! What shall I try next week? Kiss Me On My Tulips with Gettin' Miss Piggy With It?

Do you like this?

Nail News • Butter London Spring/Summer 2012

Some time ago, Butter London premiered the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. I know it's a little late, but because of its gorgeousness I just have to post the 5-piece collection.

From the left to the right: Bossy Boots (light pistachio green), Disco Biscuit (glittery hot pink), Knackered (sheer oyster blue), Slapper (bold aqua), Trout Pout (opaque pink).

First of all, what an interesting colour combination in this collection! Secondly, quite some sparkles going on here! It's not really visible in this image, but in 4 out of the 5 lacquers are loads of glitters.

I'm totally digging this collection! My favourites are Disco Biscuit and Knackered. Which ones do you like? I think this jelly pink colour is perfect for coming spring and summer.

The Spring/Summer 2012 collection is available for $14.00 a piece, enjoy!

Nail News • OPI Soft Shades 2012: The NYC Ballet Collection

Spring is around the corner and OPI's newest Soft Shades collection couldn't have come at a better time. The collection is inspired by the New York City Ballet and includes five soft glossy shades and one glittery top coat.

From the left to the right: Care To Danse? (cool lavender), My Pointe Exactly (dusty grey), You Callin' Me A Lyre? (delicate pink), Don't Touch My Tutu! (chic off-white hue), Barre My Soul (pale beige-pink) & Pirouette My Whistle (silver glitter top coat).

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann (OPI's Executive VP & Artistic Director) stated: "OPI is so excited to work with the New York City Ballet. The dancers, choreography and costumes provided a wealth of inspiration for a range of soft, feminine hues. The beige, pink and white lacquers bring to mind classic ballet slippers, tutus and leotards, while the sheer lilac and gray add muted color to ballet's traditional pink."

Yes, be ready for six gorgeous shades. You can expect five sheer, sorbet lacquers with a fantasy-feel to it and of course, the beautiful thick silver top coat.

Check out this new collection yourself, it will be available in the end of April 2012. Enjoy!

Nail News • Chanel 'Les Jeans De Chanel' Collection 2012

Hi guys, I have some news which is especially delightful for my Dutch readers! You remember, that in August 2011 Chanel came with the denim-inspired colours? Now they're back for good! Last year I missed out on this collection, which was a bummer. Since I've always wanted Blue Rebel, this is the one I bought this afternoon. Blue Boy and Coco Blue are colours that are in my OPI collection already. Coco Blue stays a limited colour, the darker hues will be in Chanel's basic collection from now on.

Like I said, this afternoon I added Blue Rebel to my nail polish collection. This hue is the darkest one of the three colours and really makes me think of a pair of jeans!

I will post a review as soon as possible, which colour of this trio is your fave?

xoxo

PS. The collection is availabe at all official Chanel retailers (in the Netherlands this would be ICI Paris, Douglas & De Bijenkorf for sure, and of course other refined perfumeries) for €20,25.

Review • OPI Go On Green!

Last weekend I was in Brussels for a weekend full of shopping. There I saw this little gem that I have never seen before, sparkling from an OPI-stand. The shade was once featured in the OPI Brights collection, which means this is a fairly old shade, but I had never seen it before! This non-stop shade that's got the green light is a perfect spring/summer colour. On my nails the polish is some sort of frosty blue, but in the (sun)light it turns into a jewel-like green.

The lacquer has a very thin formula, so for a good coverage you need three layers. The nail polish is now on my nails for at least six days without chipping and I even forgot to apply my ChipSkip underneath the basecoat!

What do you think?

Review • OPI Save Me

This week I'm wearing another colour from the OPI Nicki Minaj collection: Save Me, a silver rainbow glitter. Because the formula is see-through when not applying the lacquer super thick, I decided to wear a flashy colour underneath it for a more fun effect. I went for Yoga-ta Get This Blue! as a basecoat. It actually worked out quite funny I think. Save Me dries within 1 minute. The first picture is inside, under artificial lights and the other one is in outside daylight.

Save Me truly looks like a confetti rainbow on your nails, so I'm glad I added this one to my collection! What do you think?

xoxo
